Why do muslim women get killed in "honour killings?"?

It is not the religion it is the society it happens with non muslims as well in India it is something that has to change yes but it is ingrained in their culture also Chinese people have been known to do it or if the husband dies the wife kills herself please be careful about spreading more hate than is needed onto muslims they are not all bad I live in a muslim country.
